History
An association founded by George
Forbes Sensei (6th Dan) who has been practising and
teaching Aikido for over 35 years. He has studied in Japan,
Belgium, France, Spain and the U.S.A on a regular basis
with many different Sensei (Teachers) but his passion is
Aikido as practised by Nobuyoshi
Tamura Shihan (8th Dan).
Shobu Aikido UK is pleased to announce that George Forbes
has recently been awarded the rank of 6th Dan by Mr
Pierre Chassang. According to George Forbes; "This is the greatest honour that I have received especially as it is from Pierre who has been so influential in the development of Aikido in Europe. All of my personal Aikido is based upon his work and I am trying to the best of my ability to live up to his ideals".
George Forbes became a student of Mr
Pierre Chassang more than 20 years ago. He says that
meeting Pierre changed not only his practice in the dojo
but also the way he applied Aikido to his everyday life.
Mr
Pierre Chassang (8th Dan) is the Technical Director of Shobu Aikido UK. We are greatly honoured that
such a highly esteemed Aikido master has agreed to help
further the development of our Federation. His Aikido history
speaks for itself.
Style
Based upon the foundations of Aikido given by Tamura Shihan.
The teachings of the foundations practised inside and outside
the dojo lead to martial wisdom – Shobu Aikido.
Aikido
literally "the way of harmony",
Aikido training involves physical, mental, spiritual and
ethical disciplines. It includes empty-hand techniques, sword,
stick and knife defences and is unique among the martial
arts.
